Headed To Guanaja, Honduras

We departed from Houston, Texas at 10:30 am. The country of Honduras actually owns 3 islands off of its northern coast. They are Utila, Roatan & Guanaja. Together they are called the Bay Islands. The largest of the three being Roatan. Our first week will be spent on the island of Guanaja. While waiting to board, Bev noticed a lady that looked familiar waiting for the same flight. Bev spoke to her and it turned out to be a lady that works for a church in Roatan that our oldest daughter, Ashley, and her husband Nathan had met while in Roatan a few months back. Ashley had showed us a picture of her from their trip and Bev recognized her from having seen the picture. During our flight, we were sitting next to some young people going to Roatan on a mission’s trip. We got their contact information from the leader. Will try to follow up on them while there. We landed in Roatan at 12:15 pm with our flight to Guanaja departing at 1:15 pm. We made it through customs, grabbed our bags (which then all went through a scanner), made it to the ticket counter and got our luggage checked back in (had to pay a departure fee for leaving Roatan just to go to the next island). We were the last ones to board, but we made it. That 30 minute flight took us to La Ceiba on the mainland of Honduras. We had a 2 hours layover, then took a 30 minute flight to Guanaja. It would have only been a 10 minute flight if we could have flown directly to Guanaja from Roatan. We got picked up by boat at the airport (there are no roads at the airport) and taken to our final destination, Bo’s Island House. After we got to our room and opened our luggage, we realized that the TSA had opened and gone through 3 of our 4 checked bags. The only one they didn’t check was the one with the medication. I guess God didn’t want them to check that bag! We had a great dinner and finished off the day fishing, what an exciting start.
